Sketchbook #1 "Mad Luck Life"

So here it is!
The first "little" sketchbook I've (nearly) finished in what I hope will be the creation of a series of "little" sketchbooks!

It's not really aimed towards anything in particular just a random collection of drawings and other odd "things" that I've created whilst bored or in an imaginative mood.

Friends and family have commented that it's a tad sincere, makes me worry about my head sometimes!

So here is... page 1+2

Doodles made out of marks on paper from pro-markers which went through the pages.

Page 3+4

A quotation from one of my favorite band songs whilst experimenting with blending the pro-makers

Page 5+6
Quite an unusual/almost disturbing letter I wrote to my bestfriend Sarah, just about cowboy and russian themed weddings and my newly errected eyeball tattooing bussiness...

Page 7+8
Created whilst bored behind the till of the Art shop I work in where my friend Sherry and I love to "future husband spot" on the highstreet.

Page 9+10
I asked Sherry Dhanoa if I could have one of her drawings to stick into my sketchbook.
I really do love her style and really do recommend you check her blog out!

Page 11+12
My first real go at having a go with pro-markers (exciting stuff) If you hadn't have guessed by now, I am pretty much in love with these pens!

Page 13+14
Although you cant really see it I've actually just put glue all over some paper and then created these little drawings out of all the ridges the glue left as it dried.

Page 15+16
Out of the transfer that the pens left on the pages I've just created some odd little things, a page of faces and a page of matchsticks... (you do not understand how long it took to do all of those)

Page 17
The smaller contacts you get from photo developments, my experiments with my fish eye camera.

Also Page 18... A couple of films from the camera put inbetween some sheets of acetate.

Page 19+20
Back of the acetate and then a little doodle which has been suspended in the middle of the page with fish wire, very fiddly in deed!

Page 21+22
The other side of the suspended paper and then a very quick go at the ol' pro markers again!

Page 23+24
Originally an A5 pen drawing I created, I have produced some prints of the same size for sale and then this smaller one followed by a poem that I wrote for it.

This is the poem for the teddy bear...

Page 25+26
Quick sketch and the remians of ripped up photos.

Page 26 has a picture that my mum found from somewhere... not sure where but I liked it so it went in.

Page 27+28
Doodle in black biro, originally supposed to be a theatre curtain but then turned out like this.

Page 29+30
Sid... would be the back cover to my old Blackberry untill my phone had a flying lesson across the track of a ride I operate at Carters Steam Fair. He has now been replaced by Harvey so may he enjoy his time in "Mad Luck Life". Followed by more fish eye photos from my friends performance at Monto Water Rats in Kings Cross with his band Chigurh! Raidohead vibes going on there!

Page 29+30
Find some random pens, create some odd things behind the till again, simple as!

Pages 31+32
Another pen experiment followed by a star constellation as I love the stars and the night sky.

Page 33+34
More star constellations including my favorite Orion. Lots of little facts aswell!

Page 35+36
Another final constellation followed by a small page with a little joke.

Page 37+38
The back of the joke "Now say it like Dve" would mean say it in an Irish accent...Whale
Oil
Beef
Hooked
Follwed by a pen doodle

Page 30+40
Traced images from magazines then cut out and put over the top of a turkish newspaper.

Page 41+42
Little bit creepy, inspired a tiny bit by one of my all time favorite books ever "Water for Elephants" but really just an excuse to use my colour soft pencils!

Page 43+44
More pen doodles, really just a mixture of things tried out really, fans on the left and whatever came to mind on the right, I do love drawing eyes though, in fact I'm suprised theres not many of them in here!

Page 45+46
You may recognise this from the front cover and it's actually the tracings that were used to create it, they just looked so nice on their own that I had to use them somehow.

Fold out of Page 46
To keep in with the theme of watches of time I found a fitting poem on the internet, (poet unkown) and then another little tracing paper and pro-marker experiment at the bottom. The blobs are transfer from the other side of the paper but I think it looks a little bit more intresting.

Page 47+48
A treasure map, just cause I can.
Then Sherry who was sat on some stairs and seen as I wanted to brush up on my life drawing skills I had a crack at drawing her! Turned out quite well I think, Just added some tinted charcol round the edge.

Page 49+50
Probly one of my favorite pages, traced from an image off the internet and then my improvisation on the dress. Just an excuse to use my new Rotring pens really (they're beautiful)

Page 51+52
Probly the blankest set of pages in the whole sketchbook but here is a drawing and tracing of a lily I drew. Love how the tracing actually looks like a new dress for the lady on the page before.

Page 53, 54+55
With tips from Sherry I attempted my very own fashion illistrations and actually find I quite enjoy doing them! So keep your eyes peeled for some more.

So there we have it, my Mad Luck Life so far, there's still quite a few more pages left to fill but were getting there so lets look forward to future doodles and odd things and hopefully some more sketchbooks!
